Notes: To make a nice body it’s all about the wire diameter. When using the heavy gauge I again start the wire at the top of the bead and wrap thread down over a single strain but this time I make the body wider by placing the wire next to the hook shank, not on the top. Wrap it out in 8/0 and when you start you have a perfect body. For the thinner wire I make more wraps of thread to make sure I have a nice smooth base and then I taper it. Basically, it’s all about the initial fastening of the body material, filling the gaps with thin thread to make everything smooth and anchoring the body material at the bend of the hook really well so when you take your first wrap it doesn’t move off center and pull to the side you are taking the material too. - Jeremy Trainor (aka Formerly Larvae)
