Notes:

This is a variation of another very popular fly, which was featured in the 1979 SPAWNER magazine. It was created by the late Bill Dutot of Port-aux-Basques, NL. The original has become famous all over the Atlantic salmon fishing world since then and is found in many fly boxes. The fly has worked its charm on the Lower Humber where one angler, Terry Byrne, used it to land a dozen or more, up to 1993. The variation comes from Lee Peddle of Burgeo, NL – “Here is a variation of an old familiar pattern with a new twist. Adding half a dozen strands of Krystal Flash doesn’t seem like much, but I’ve had great results with it, as well as friends to whom I’ve given the pattern over the last five years. “For some reason it seems to hold a fascination for larger salmon as a good number of fish I’ve hooked had to be released. Try it – I think you’ll be impressed.” This Swapster has used the variation and successfully hooked a few fish– If it works for me it’ll work for anyone! ~Keith Piercey
