Notes:

Very easy fly to tie. This fly should be very slim and sparsely tied. Tie in the eyes leaving in a little room so that you can pull the wing case over them and tie it down. wrap the shank of the hook just behind the eyes with about 5 or 6 turns of .20 lead wire. Wrap the hook with thread toward the rear of the hook. At the rear of the hook tie in 3 or so fibers of marabou from the butt of a feather. Pull off about 6 inches of thread and leave it to the rear. Dub the body forward making sure that there is just enough dubbing to cover the hook. Stop at the lead wire. Now twist the thread that you left at the rear to form one strand and rib the body with it. Tie it off were you stopped the dubbing. Now take a section of turkey about an 8th inch wide and tie it in so that it points to the rear. Now tie in your hackle and dub up to the eyes. Wrap you hackle over the dubbing ( about 4 turns is all that you will need. Just space the 4 turns over the area that you dubbed). Tie off the hackle and trim off the end of it. Trim the hackle from the top of the fly. Pull the wing case over the the dubbed and Hackled area and tie it down. You should be right behind your eyes. Dub around the eyes and then bring the turkey feather over them and tie it off and trim off the extra. Finish the head and lacquer. Now trim the hackle flat on the bottom. Also trim the sides of the hackle but leave about 1/8 inch sticking out. We have fished this fly for better than 35 years and it is a good one. At first we did not have the mono eyes on it but added them when we got the idea of burning mono for them. Now you can buy them per made. That sure helps. Fish this fly with 6 or 8 shot sharp pulls and then stop and pull very slow and steady. This is when you will get the most takes on this fly. If you pull slow and steady you will feel more takes than if you stop and go. Good Tying -Ron
